#C381 - Ebony Go Bowls - XL

This is an outstanding set of go bowls. The wood is Ebony, with incredible density and grain patterns. 

Ebony is a very heavy wood to begin with, and this pair were built extremely thick. In addition, a thick lacquer finish has been applied, both inside and out. Each bowl weighs ~600g with its lid, which is about 50% more than than usual for this wood. For comparison, photos are added to demonstrate the weight of a quince bowl and another ebony bowl, which each weighed at about ~400g, while a less dense bowl (chestnut) only weighed ~200g.

The striations in the grain are lovely, and the dark wood is made even darker with a lacquer finish. So the bowls can appear black, but the grain becomes visible from many angles. Small rubber feet have been added on the bottom to protect the finish.
