This go set came to Baduk club from a private home in Kanagawa, Japan. 

The board is Kaya, the premier wood due for go boards. Kaya is cured for 10 years to keep its resin, which leads to high density and great longevity, while the wood isn't too hard and it has a nice color. This board has a handsome yellow color and displays wavy endgrain visible on the side. It is 6cm thick, and was constructed as a Hagi board made of 3 pieces - this prevents warping which can happen when a board is made of a single piece. The board has a raised lacquer grid (tachimori). Felt feet have been added to the underside for ease and stability.

The bowls are size XL Hishimatsu (red pine), a rare type of wood for go bowls. This wood is known for its dramatic red lines. There are a few abrasions on the bowls, but they come with a paulownia storage box. 

The stones are slate and shell, size 32. The 178 white stones are moon-grade Mexican clamshell, the 181 black stones are slate.
