This go board was acquired from a private seller in Kagawa, who says it was their grandfather's.
The board appears to be Matsu (Pine) in good condition. The nice thing about a thin board like this is that it can make a nice table board with the legs removed, so it is somewhat versatile. It stands 20cm tall with the legs on.
The playing surface and sides look great. An aged cross-cut (kiura) like this will probably last forever without cracking if you take care of it. A couple corners look dinged.
There is white residue, which is dried wax - this is a good sign that the board was well-maintained. I actually refurbished one just like this recently.
There may be some varnish on the ends. I'd recommend scrubbing the ends and bottom, applying a varnish stripper if necessary, then applying a fresh coat of paste wax.
The grid-lines are hand-lacquered tachimori.
International seamail shipping from Japan (to almost everywhere) is already included in the purchase price for free - however, this service takes up to 2-3 months. You may upgrade to FedEx shipping for a fee, which reduces the shipping time to only 5 business days. Purchasing this service can be done at Checkout (if there are no other items in your cart) or by adding the FedEx Upgrade to your Cart and has the added benefit of a larger box, so it is both more room for padding and less time in transit. In either case you will have a tracking number from the shipping service that you can use to sign up for notifications.
Please understand that this is a vintage item, so it is sold in an as-is condition.
