This is a luxury go set, purchased a decade ago by a go player from Kiseido shop in Tokyo, Japan. It is being sold through Baduk.Club on Consignment. It is Like-New, with only incidental issues. When it was purchased, it cost over 270,000 yen, about $3000 at that time.
The board is a 3-piece hagi board. This construction helps avoid warping (which can occur with a thin board made of a single piece). The top has a raised lacquer grid. It is Kaya, the most-preferred wood for quality go boards. It has a distinctive pleasant smell. There is a small scratch on the underside, and some of the corners have slight dings.
The bowls are size XXL Chinese Quince, with beautiful heathering. These shimmering ripples occur where the wood is naturally compressed, such as at the base of a tree or under heavy branches.
The 180 white pieces are snow-grade Mexican clamshell, 11.6mm-11.8mm They are bright white.
The 181 black stones are slate, around 12mm. It is preferred that the black pieces be thicker, to account for black's slimming effect. About 5% seem to be a darker color, and may be replacements.
The seller may be open to offers if the set remains unsold for some time.
