This complete set came to Baduk Club from a go an antique shop in Kagawa, Japan.
The pieces are about 10mm thick, the same size that professionals in Japan use for title matches. The 181 black stones are Slate and the 180 white stones are Clamshell. The 181 black slate stones are slightly larger than the white ones, and this is intentional to account for black's slimming effect.
The Japanese go bowls are Cherry, size XL. They have their original finish in very good condition. Cherry is a dense wood with great longevity. This set has has a deep red color, it could be a type of Quince.
A Paulownia storage box is included. This lightweight wood protects the bowls from potential hazards like heat, humidity, dust, pests, etc. It has a slight patina from age, and the ribbon is missing (a replacement should be 2m long and 1.5cm wide). These lightweight boxes often suffer from shipping, some regluing may be necessary.
This set is still in Japan, it has not been refurbished in our Colorado shop so we can offer it at a discounted rate. This is a Vintage product. Small defects may exist. We would recommend cleaning the white stones according to our Care Instructions.
