The Kuri (chestnut) bowls are delicate and light, measuring about 12.7cm wide and 7.3cm tall. They were refurbished in my Colorado workshop - cleaned with turpentine, then treated with a Monkey Wax polish and given 3 weeks to cure.
The white stones are Japanese clams, with a patina from age. They are slow-growing clams, unlike the giant clams of Mexico. I would guess call them Snow-grade for their dense lines, but some have small nicks from use over time. They have been soaked in h2o2 for a week, washed with distilled water, and buffed with plain wax.
The black are slate. There are 180 of each color, plus 5 extra white spares. The white measure 4.8-5.5mm, and the black measure about 5.3-5.6mm thick.
