This is a wonderful goban from a pawn shop in Akita.
The board has a nice even tone. It is the most preferred of cross-cuts (kiura), which has mostly straight lines across the playing surface, with some central cross-grains that are very angular and consistent with pine. The endgrains show off the semi-circular growth rings of the tree. The tone of the wood stays very consistent across the entire thickness, with a slight lightening at the lower corners where the heartwood ends.
The raised lacquer of the grid indicates that it was hand-lined by tachimori. On the underside is an inscription from the original owner with the date October 17, 1970.
The corners and edges look really nice. It is without major flaws as far as I can tell. It comes with a paulownia lid.

The board weighs about 14.3kg.
FedEx International Priority shipping from Japan (to almost everywhere) is already included in the purchase price, which is a $300 service that reduces the shipping time to only 5-10 business days. This also means your items will have more room for padding and spend less time in transit, so they are less likely to be damaged by the shipping.
Please understand that this is a vintage item, so it is sold in an as-is condition.
