This go set comes from a recycle shop in Tokyo. It includes a floor board with legs (total height 20cm), beautiful wooden bowls, and slate & shell stones.
The go board is in good shape. It looks like Pine, with a center-cut (kiura-itame) that shows off the warm heartwood color and the growth lines of a very large tree. Pine tends to have a color shift as you leave the heartwood, which you can see near the lower portion of the board. The glare from the light in the photos serves to highlight the raised-lacquer tachimori grid.
The bowls are the real stars of this set. They look like mulberry, or boxwood masquerading as mulberry. The wide, wavy lines of mulberry wood are beautiful and set the lids apart - it is a highly-preferred woods for bowls.
The stones are a full set of slate and shell, size 25 (7mm). The white pieces look to be moon-grade, but do need a good cleaning. I would guess that they are Japanese hamaguri based on the patina, but they could be Mexican giant clams. I will include replacement pieces in the purchase price; simply inform me of any major defects when the equipment arrives.
All told, the set weighs 12 kilograms.
International seamail shipping from Japan (to almost everywhere) is already included in the purchase price for free - however, this service takes up to 2-3 months. You may upgrade to Express shipping by adding the FedEx upgrade to your cart. This also means your items will have more room for padding and spend less time in transit, so they are less likely to be damaged by the shipping. In either case you will have a tracking number from the shipping service that you can use to sign up for notifications.
Please understand that this is a vintage item, so it is sold in an as-is condition.
