The 180 white pieces are Japanese clamshell, very dense with an orange hue when lit from underneath. If they were Mexican clamshell, they would be Moon or Snow grade. They were soaked in h2o2 for a week, and rinsed with distilled water. The 181 black stones are slate, slightly larger than the white to account for black's slimming effect. They were washed and rinsed with distilled water, but they have not been buffed with mineral oil so we leave that option to you. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bowls are Karin (quince), a dense variety known familiarly as 'Indian Rosewood.' The red color will shift over time through shades of orange and brown.
