This board came to Baduk club from an go dealer in Kochi, Japan.
The board is a lovely candy color typical of Kaya. It is a single-piece board, harvested from Kochi. This section was uniquely taken from the upper part of the trunk, so you can see where it began to divide into multiple branches.
This is a very unusual cut, so it is not surprising that there were some putty repairs needed on the underside. There is also a small knot on one side. Ultimately the maker decided not to proceed with it, so it still lacks mortises for legs. You could add these yourself or leave it as it is.
The board was cured for 10 years, and is at least 15 years old. It weighs about 17kg.
This is a vintage item.
