This lovely set of slate and shell Go Stones are of the most humble grade, and come with their original cardstock box.

The white stones are Mexican clamshell, and have been cleaned per our Care Instructions. They were soaked in hydrogen peroxide for a week, rinsed with distilled water, then buffed with an iso-paraffin wax. They are a mix of grades, but most are Utility grade with lines that curve across the surface of the stone. 

The 181 slate stones are slightly thicker and wider than the white stones. They have been washed with soapy water and rinsed with distilled water. You may choose to buff them with mineral oil for a darker look.

The white are 8mm-8.3mm, while the black are 8.4mm-8.7mm. It's preferred to have the black stones slightly larger than the white - if they are the same size, the bright white pieces will appear larger when side by side with the black. Even if they are the same thickness, most standard sets will have the black pieces be slightly wider (22mm) than the white (21.5mm).
