A folding board is a staple for most clubs and players 'on the go.' This Japanese board was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing - it was cleaned and then treated with Monkey Butter. It comes with its original box, which is old and in need of some tape.
This board is an older style that is no longer produced. Tenons on one side slot into the mortises on the other, creating a compact and portable set that still feels solid and substantial. The wood was carefully selected, both sides are from the same single piece of Quartersawn wood cut in half. The wood is fairly dense. The color and endgrain point to Katsura.
The reverse side of the board has a shogi grid. Shogi sets are available by request for a small fee.
