This dreamy set of go equipment was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
The stones are size 36 slate & size 35 shell, at 10mm it is the same thickness used for major title tournaments in Japan. The bowls are Keyaki, featuring straight grain.
The 180 white pieces are Snow-grade Mexican clamshell. They have been cleaned per our Care Instructions, beginning with a week-long soak in h2o2, followed by a rinse with distilled water.
The 181 black stones are Slate. They were washed with soapy water and rinsed with distilled water. They have not been buffed with mineral oil, we leave this choice to you. You can see from how they fill the bowls that the black are slightly larger than the white - this is preferred to account for black's slimming effect. When they are side-by-side on the board they will look the same size.
The bowls are Keyaki (Zelkova), a kind of Japanese elm tree. This wood is the standard wood for quality go boards, with a medium density and great longevity. The bowls were scrubbed of their original finish and treated with Monkey Butter. The bowls are XL size, about 15cm wide and 10cm tall with lids on. They fit the stones snugly.
