This antique set was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
There are 185 white stones and 181 black. The white pieces are made from Japanese clams, and they measure about 4mm - because some chipping cannot be avoided at this thickness, 5 extra pieces are included so that you can discard your least-favorites. They have been cleaned per our Care Instructions, including a soak in oxygenated water. The black stones are slate - they have not been oiled yet, we leave this option to you. The shape of the stones is not convex - instead they are old-fashioned flat discs. This is great for players that don't like the wobble of bi-convex stones, or are used to the flat appearance that stones have on a computer screen.
The bowls are chestnut, size L. They were scrubbed and treated with Monkey Butter.
The box is a side-loading style. It was reglued in places, and a Paulownia piece was added to help the door close snugly. One side handle was long gone, so the other was repurposed as a grip for the door.
