Vintage boards like this are increasingly rare to find in good condition. This one is 4.6cm thick and has a warm brown color typical of Katsura. The grid is traditional raised lacquer, which shines in the glare of the light.
The construction is a single-piece in the Plain-Sawn style (kiura). This creates a 'cathedral' or 'flame' on the playing surface, similar to ripples on water.
The board comes with its original box and care instructions from a shop in Nagoya, Japan. If it is a vintage item, then it has been resurfaced, as it has not been used and has no marks.
