This go set came to Baduk club from a go and shogi dealer in Osaka, Japan.
The bowls are Keyaki (zelkova, a kind of Japanese elm), size XL, with their original finish in good shape. This is the benchmark wood for quality go bowls. Quince has good longevity with a medium density, so it is substantial in your hands but not too heavy.
The stones are a full set of slate and shell, size 37 (about 10.5mm). There are 180 white and 181 black. The white stones are clamshell, with a cream-color patina, and they look like Moon or Snow grade. They may become brighter white with refurbishing, please see our Care Instructions. The black are slate from Kumano, Japan.
The bowls come with a Paulownia storage box. It closes with a decorative ribbon.
This is a vintage item, so imperfections may exist. Because it has not been refurbished in our Colorado workshop, we are able to offer it at a discount.
