This is a dried block of lumber from Okayama Prefecture, cured for 10 to 20 years. It is Kaya, ready to be turned into anything you can imagine. It could also be used in a kaya board repair (shape your own Butterflies/Bowties for arresting cracks).
A warm yellow/orange color, Kaya has super-thin growth lines and nice waves.
This piece features the heartwood of the tree. Please refer to the photos.
