This board came to Baduk club from an art dealer in Osaka.
The board is a lovely color typical of Kaya, with a dark candy color from age. It is a 4-piece hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, since making it from a single piece can lead to eventual warping. The board looks to be sitting flat on the surface, so if there is any warping it is minimal.
It has typical signs of wear on the corners and edges and sides, but the playing surface looks very good. It has a raised lacquer grid. There are many marks on the underside, though some can clearly be cleaned up. Please see the photos for details.
Because Kaya is very dense, the board weighs 5.5kg. It is 45.8cm long by 42.7cm wide, and 5.9cm tall.
This is a vintage item.
