This set came to Baduk Club from a private home in Ehime, Japan. The seller says, "My father in law has a large collection so we are putting this set up for sale."
There are 181 black and 180 white pieces, plus a spare of each color. The black are slate, about 10.5mm. The white are clamshell, about 10mm. It is common for the black to be larger than the white - if they are made the same size then the shiny white stones appear bigger. The grade of the stones looks to be moon-grade.
The Japanese go bowls are Keyaki (zelkova), a Japanese elm. They are size XL. They have a nice orange color and their original finish, so it is up to you whether you want to scrub off the old shellac or not (please see our Care Instructions). The bowls fit the stones comfortably, with a bit of room to spare.
A vintage folding board is included. The underside bears an inscription that is a bit hard to read as it is faded with age.
This set is still in Japan, it has not been refurbished in our Colorado shop. This is why we can offer it at this discounted rate.
This is a Vintage product.
FedEx International Priority shipping from Japan is already included in the purchase price (5 business days). You can save some cost by downgrading to Japan Post Surface (3 months), but this is done at your own risk so please contact us with the chat widget to request it.
