This luxury set came to Baduk Club from a Go and Shogi shop in Kanagawa, Japan.
There are is a full set, plus an extra 2 spares of each color.
The 182 white pieces are clamshell, about 11.3-11.6mm - of these, about 35% are snow grade and 50% moon grade, with the remaining 15% being utility.
The black are slate, about 11.5-11.8mm. It is common for the black to be slightly larger than the white to account for black's slimming effect.
The stones come with their original box which indicates size 40, although the stones are well above this benchmark.
The Japanese go bowls are textbook Keyaki (zelkova), size XXL (about 16.5cm wide and 10.5cm tall). They have a lovely orange/brown color and their original finish. The finish is in excellent condition, so it would be up to you whether you want to leave them as they are or refurbish them (for example, one could reapply shellac, or even scrub the wood clean before oiling and waxing - for more, please see our Care Instructions).
The modern protective Paulownia storage box minimizes exposure to moisture and light, and closes with a decorative purple ribbon.
This set is still in Japan, it has not been refurbished in our Colorado shop. This is why we can offer it at this price, at roughly 40% of what the stones alone would cost new.
This is a Vintage product.
