This lovely set includes refurbished Go Bowls and refurbished slate and shell Go Stones.
The stones are size 32 slate & shell. They have been cleaned per our Care Instructions. The 180 clamshells have been waxed and buffed - they measure 8.8mm. They are a variety of grades. The 181 slate stones are wider, and slightly thicker on average as well. They have been washed and rinsed with distilled water.
It's preferred to have the black stones slightly larger than the white - if they are the same size, the bright white pieces will appear larger. This is why standard black stones are about 22mm wide while the white are about 21.5mm.
The bowls are Keyaki (Zelkova) with a pleasing orange-brown tone. They have been cleaned of their original finish, buffed with Monkey Wax, and given 3 weeks to cure. They fit the stones comfortably. Update: the bowls in these photos have been replaced with similar Keyaki bowls in slightly better condition, and a $20 discount has been applied for this inconvenience.
