This wonderful set of go equipment was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
The stones are size 32 slate & shell. They have been cleaned per our Care Instructions. As you can see from the photos, the white pieces are Mexican clamshell about 8.8mm thick, with a variety of grades but mostly Snow-grade and Moon-grade, with a handful that are Utility grade. The black pieces are slate about 8.8mm thick, but slightly wider than the white, so that they look the same size when side-by-side on the board.
The clamshell stones were washed, soaked in h2o2 for a week, rinsed with distilled water, dried, and buffed with iso-paraffin wax. The black stones were washed and rinsed with distilled water, but they have not been buffed with mineral oil so we leave that option to you.
The bowls are Karin (Quince), with their original shellac finish and a nice red/brown tone. Quince is a dense wood with good longevity. It is sometimes called Indian Rosewood, and will slowly change color over time from red to orange to brown. In any case, they are XL size, and they fit the size 32 stones comfortably.
This is a Vintage product.
