This is a vintage go set, with Chestnut go bowls and size 25 (7mm) slate & clamshell go stones.
The Chestnut wood has a light brown tone. They are L size, please see the photos for measurements. They were refurbished in our Colorado workshop, scrubbed of their original finish and treated with Monkey Wax before being cured for 2 weeks.
The 180 white pieces are a Japanese clamshell. The slow-growing Japanese clams are beyond Snow grade, with incredibly dense lines. They were soaked in hydrogen peroxide for a week before being rinsed with distilled water and buffed with iso-paraffin wax. Many have small imperfections so the price has been reduced.
The 181 black stones are slate, and are slightly larger than the white. This is usually preferred so that they appear the same size side-by-side. They were washed with soapy water and rinsed with distilled water, but have not been buffed with mineral oil as we leave this choice to you.
