This go board was refurbished in our Colorado workshop, including a coat of Monkey Butter. Photos from the refurbishing process can be found here:

The board is lovely, and the playing surface is in really good shape. It stands about 27cm tall with legs. The deep red color points to Katsura, but the overall density points to Matsu. It has a traditional grid made of raised lacquer.
The cut is Kiura, a plain-sawn cut that results in straight lines on the sides and with the evenness of pine we see semi-circle endgrain where the players sit. Interesting crossgrain appears on the top and underside. You can see the log's growth rings are very thin and dense in the endgrain.
The edges are pretty good, with some rounding on the corners from impacts over time. The endgrain on one side has some superficial marks (as it was carried on my hip the metal rivet in my pocket disturbed the fresh wax treatment, whoops). Other defects are visible, please refer to the photos.
The board weighs 11.5kg without legs, about 12.2kg with legs. The legs have their original finish.
This is a vintage item.
