This lightweight wooden box helps protect valuable go bowls. The modern design ensures minimal exposure to moisture and light, while also being easy to open. It closes with a decorative purple ribbon. It is held together with only wooden pegs, but the base has some additional metal nails.
Paulownia is called the Princess Tree, and has great weather resistance due to its low moisture content. It also has a high tolerance for heat and flame, but it can only insulate so much so please do not store your go equipment near heat sources or direct sunlight.
This is the the ideal storage container for a set of XL go bowls. This one has a dark patina from age, and the ribbon is a bit ragged. Please see the photos for exact dimensions, but each compartment is roughly 15cm square.
This one is used, and the top was reglued to seal cracks there. Marks do appear, as the wood is relatively light and soft. New boxes can be purchased from Japan (roughly $120 plus shipping) with a Custom Order.
