This board came to Baduk Club from a go parlor in Tokyo that shut down. It was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing. The board has a raised lacquer grid, which was saved. We sanded the bottom and sides and treated it with Monkey Butter (mineral oil and beeswax).
The board is about 5cm thick, and it is a Hagi construction, made of 2 separate pieces. This helps ensure that warping will not occur over time. The board sits nice and flat, but small felt feet would help preserve the condition of the underside.
There is some slight wear on the playing surface. A small gap appears in the endgrain on one side but the wood is flush and no gap is felt along the surface.
The wood type is not known, but is probably Katsura. It weighs 4kg and has standard dimensions, please see the photos for measurements.
This is a vintage item.
