This antique set of go stones and go bowls was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
The stones were not cleaned according to our Care Instructions as they appear to be antiques.
The bowls are a dark brown chestnut. They are size M or L. They are in good shape, having been cleaned of their old finish and polished with Monkey Butter. One of the lids has a slight defect.
The 180 white stones are clamshell. They have lines that are packed so thick that Snow does not quite do them justice. Rather, these clams are Japanese in origin, where the higher latitude and colder water means they grow much slower than Mexican clams.
The 181 black stones are slate.
All the stones are a unique disc-shape, rather than bi-convex or single-convex. This is very unusual and old-fashioned. We have reached out to the company that we believe originated the pieces but have received no response.
