This Japanese go board was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing. It has the unmistakeable sweet scent of Kaya, and the engrain confirms this with dense and wavy growth lines. It has a raised lacquer grid.
This is a hagi board, made of 3 pieces of wood joined together. This type of construction helps prevent warping that may occur when a thin board is made of a single piece. However, some slight warping has occurred over time so it will be sold at a discount.
The board is gently used. It was scrubbed with a plastic abrasive and denatured alcohol, sanded on 5 sides (the raised lacquer grid was kept intact), then treated with our Monkey Butter.
