This lovely set includes Go Bowls, refurbished slate and shell Go Stones, and an original box.
The 180 white pieces are size 35 Japanese clamshell. With a flashlight we can see that they are slow-growing clams with a deep orange color and incredibly dense lines. We believe these are Japanese in origin, not from Mexico. They were cleaned per our Care Instructions, including a weeklong bath for the white stones in hydrogen peroxide.
The 181 slate stones are slightly wider and thicker, which is preferred to account for black's slimming effect. They were washed and rinsed with distilled water.
The bowls are Keyaki (zelkova) or something similar. They are delightfully light, and were refurbished in our Colorado workshop. This means we lightly sanded them with a plastic abrasice to clear the original shellac finish, and then treated them with our homemade Monkey Butter. At XL size they fit the stones snugly.
As a bonus we are including an original Vintage box for size 35 go stones. This set of stones did not come in this box, and the usual internal containers are not present, but it is a nice accompaniment.
