This wonderful set of go equipment was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
The stones slate & shell. They have been cleaned per our Care Instructions.
As you can see from the photos, the 180 white pieces are mostly Utility grade. Some players prefer this, as the clamshell pieces are more plain and each have unique grain instead of all being uniform. They were washed, soaked in h2o2 for a week, and rinsed with distilled water.
The 181 black stones are slate. They were washed and rinsed with distilled water, but they have not been buffed with mineral oil so we leave that option to you.
The bowls are size XL Kokutan (ebony), a dense and rare wood in the rosewood family. They feature beautiful black and brown stripes. They are on the large size of XL, almost XXL, and fit the stones with a bit of room to spare. A pad could be put in the bottom to cushion the stones. We recommend treating the bowls with mineral oil, as Ebony can become brittle over time despite its high density.
