Portable and compact, a folding board is a staple for most clubs and players 'on the go.'
This Japanese board was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing. It was treated with Monkey Butter.
This board is old, as we can tell by the rusty hinges, as well as the raised lacquer grid (modern boards are simple ink). The wood was carefully selected, each side is a single piece of Quartersawn wood. The wood is fairly dense and dark, probably Katsura. The board would benefit from the addition of felt feet on the corners. There are many incidental marks and the lacquer is scratched in a few spots.
