This wonderful set of go equipment was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
The stones are a full set of size 30 slate & shell (22mm wide and 8mm thick). They are off-spec, meaning that some of the stones are nicked or slightly irregular.
The 180 white pieces are Mexican clamshell. They were cleaned with a weeklong soak in oxygenated water, rinsed with distilled water, and air dried. The 181 black pieces are slate, slightly larger than the white to account for black's slimming effect. The black stones were washed and rinsed with distilled water, but they have not been buffed with mineral oil so we leave that option to you.
The bowls are Kokutan (ebony), a dense and rare wood in the rosewood family. They feature beautiful black and brown stripes, crafted expertly with perfect punts/kick-ups. After removing their original finish, Monkey Butter was applied and polished clean. Ebony is very dense and hard, so to protect the stones from chipping or discoloration we recommend adding a cloth liner at the bottom of each bowl.
