These Keyaki (Japanese Elm) bowls have beautiful lines. They have a dark red color, probably a type of wood stain. They are XL size, and fit the stones comfortably. They were refurbished in our Colorado workshop where the original finish was removed and they were treated with Monkey Butter. Both of the lids l have a water stain, and one looks like a replacement.
There is a full set of slate and shells stones at size 32, about 9mm thick.
The 180 white pieces are Mexican clamshell. They were soaked in hydrogen peroxide for a week before being rinsed with distilled water. There is a mix of grades.
The 181 black stones are slate. They are slightly larger than the white to account for black's slimming effect. They were washed with soapy water and rinsed with distilled water, but have not been buffed with mineral oil as we leave this choice to you.
