This set was refurbished in our Colorado workshop. It includes beautiful red bowls and a complete set of slate and shell stones.
The go stones are a full set of size 28 slate & shell, about 7.5 to 8mm thick. They have been cleaned per our Care Instructions. The 180 white pieces are Standard-grade Mexican clamshell. Some of the pieces have an off-white patina that is a mild cream color. They were soaked in h2o2 for a week, then rinsed with distilled water. The 181 black stones are slate, slightly larger than the white to account for black's slimming effect. The slate stones were washed and then rinsed with distilled water, but they have not been buffed with mineral oil so we leave that option to you.
The bowls are Karin (quince), a dense wood known familiarly as 'Indian Rosewood.' A maker's mark on the underside indicates they are original bowls from Kaishi, a highly respected craftsman. The red color will shift over time through shades of orange and brown. They were buffed with Monkey Butter.
