This is an outstanding set of go bowls. The wood is Ebony, with incredible density and grain patterns. They come with a modern Paulownia storage box. 

Ebony is a dense wood in the Rosewood family. Each bowl weighs over 1 pound with the lid on. The striations in the grain are lovely. The bowls can also appear black from many angles and exhibit mild chatoyance (shimmer). They can comfortably hold a set of stones up to size 36 or so (10mm), size 38 would be very snug.

The Paulownia storage box fits the bowls nicely, and closes with a Sanada Himo ribbon.
