This set includes vintage go bowls and thick go stones.
The bowls are Karin (quince), sometimes called Indian Rosewood. The bright red tone has faded over the years with UV exposure, so they are now more orange and brown. They were refurbished in our Colorado workshop by being scrubbed of their original finish and treated with Monkey Butter. They are size XL and fit the stones snugly.
The 180 white pieces are Mexican clamshell, a bright and shiny white color. There is a mix of grades, but most of the stones are moon grade. They were soaked in h2o2 for a week, washed, scrubbed, then rinsed with distilled water.
The 181 black pieces are Japanese slate, slightly larger than the white pieces to account for black's slimming effect. They were washed with soapy water and rinsed with distilled water. They have not been buffed with mineral oil yet, as we leave that option to you.
