This lovely set came to Baduk Club from an antique shop in Tokyo, Japan. It is likely Chinese in origin.
The bowls are both made of stone, carefully carved with lids to match. Both bowls are black & white marble. One bowl is predominantly black, the other is white with black accents. They make a beautiful pair. A thin layer of felt would be a nice addition to the underside of the bowls.
The go stones are marble as well, standard width and thickness about size 36 (10mm).
There are 185 black stones and 186 white, as there seem to be some extra. Marble is a soft stone, and some of the white dust from the interior of the bowls can get on the black stones to make them dusty - if you want to avoid this you can clean the stones and then use a cloth bag inside the bowl to act as a liner.
