This gorgeous board came to Baduk club from an antique dealer in Hokkaido, Japan.
The 6cm board is a lovely color typical of Kaya, known for candy color and wavy grain. It has clean corners and edges, and comes with a paulownia storage box. It is a 1-piece itame board with a raised lacquer grid.
Because it is a used item, there are some incidental marks here and there. The surface of Kaya is soft, so playing stones too harshly will leave a faint imprint.
The paulownia box has kept the board in an excellent state, but the box itself has some dented corners. (Photos coming later)
The board was wiped with a cotton cloth, but otherwise has not been refurbished. It still has a decent coating of wax (probably Japan Wax, a vegetable fat).
This is a vintage item.
