This board came to Baduk club from a reseller in Kagawa, Japan.
The board is a lovely color typical of Kaya. Other signs also point to Kaya like the dark orange resin in the endgrain, the raised lacquer grid, and the unique sweet scent. It also has a high density, weighing about 5kg.
It is a hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, to avoid the potential for warping that comes from making a thin board of a single piece. Even though it is 6 or 7 pieces, the top surface is a very consistent color.
This board comes with a paulownia storage box. It has some damage and needs to be reglued.
This is a vintage item, so small defects may exist. Where possible the photos highlight the major ones.
