This Shogi board came to Baduk club from an art dealer in Miyazaki, Japan.
The board is a lovely candy color typical of Kaya. It is a 4-piece hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, since making it from a single piece can lead to eventual warping. The board looks to be sitting flat on the surface, so if there is any warping it is minimal.
The corners and edges look great. Please see the photos for details.
There is a standard Shogi grid on top, the board board is 34cm wide by 36.5cm long.
This is a vintage item.
