This go set came to Baduk club from a go and shogi dealer in Kanagawa, Japan.
The bowls are Mulberry, size XL, with their original finish in good shape. This is one of the premier woods for go bowls. Mulberry has great longevity, it feels both delicate and sturdy in the hands. The wood grain is even and clear, like the lines on a go board and the lines on the clamshell.
The stones are a full set of slate and shell, size 34 (about 9.5mm). They are snow grade, and come with their original packaging. The density of the lines and the pure white color make this the highest grade of Mexican clamshell. The black are slate from Kumano, Japan. There are 180 white and 181 black, plus 2 spares of each color.
