This go set came to Baduk club from an antique shop in Hiroshima, Japan.
The bowls are Keyaki, size XL, with their original finish in good shape. This is the standard wood for quality go bowls. Keyaki is light but sturdy, with great longevity. The wood grain is even and clear, like the lines on a go board and the lines on the clamshell.
The stones are a full set of slate and shell, size 35 (about 9.9mm). The white stones are clamshell, in need of a cleaning. The black are slate from Kumano, Japan. There are 181 white and 181 black.
This is a vintage item.
