This go set came to Baduk club from a pawn shop in Miyazaki, Japan.
This board has a beautiful quarter-sawn cut (tenchi-masa). It is likely shin-kaya (Alaskan spruce) with clean straight lines. While it is mostly a single piece, it is technically a hagi board, as a small 2nd piece was added to complete the width. The board has a raised lacquer grid (tachimori). It stands 17cm tall on fancy Katsura legs. The nice thing about a board this thickness is that the feet can be removed if you want to use it as a table board.
The bowls are size XL Kuri (chestnut). The stones are glass, and were not measured or counted (they look to be ~8mm thick).
This is a vintage item.
