This board came to BadukClub from a go & shogi dealer in Tokyo, Japan. It is in great shape, as it has been stored long-term in a protective paulownia box (included).
The board is a lovely candy color typical of Kaya, with nice features in grain from the red resin which is cured into the wood. It is a 2-piece hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, since making it from a single piece can lead to eventual warping. It has a raised lacquer grid made with Tachimori.
The board comes with a paulownia storage box. Because it has been stored in this box consistently, a difference in patina is visible. The board is considerably lighter in the area protected most by the lower half of the box, so you can see the true color of the wood there.
