This Kaya table board came to BadukClub from a recycle shop in Osaka, Japan.
The board is a lovely candy color typical of Kaya. It comes with its original lid, and a label there indicates that it was made in Hyuga - this is a good sign, as the Kaya of southern Japan is highly regarded. You can see the trademarks of Kaya in this board with the dark orange resin in the endgrain and the high density. It has a raised lacquer grid, which is an important sign of quality.
This is a 3-piece hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, to avoid the potential for warping that comes from making a thin board of a single piece. There are some stray marks and one lower corner has been hit. This is a vintage item, so other small defects may exist.
