This luxury set came to Baduk Club from a go and shogi dealer in Kanagawa, Japan.
The pieces are size 40, about 11.3mm thick. The black are slightly larger than the white to account for black's slimming effect. The 181 black pieces are slate, while the 180 white pieces are Mexican clamshell. One spare stone of each color is included. The white stones are mostly snow-grade, but some seem to be moon-grade as well - at this thickness, such high grade stones are very hard to find.
The Japanese go bowls are Kaya, size XXL. They have their original finish in very good condition. Kaya is a dense wood with great longevity. They are about 15.5cm wide and 11.5cm tall.
The bowls come with a paulownia storage box (Daisashi-style), it closes with a decorative ribbon.
This set is still in Japan, it has not been refurbished in our Colorado shop. This is why we can offer it at a slightly discounted rate.
