This go set came to BadukClub from an antique shop in Hyogo, Japan.
The bowls are a work of art. They are lacquered black and feature mother-of-pearl inlay. The elaborate designs of birds and flowers are just the beginning, as the bowls and lids are all covered in decoration. Raden is a popular choice in Korea, so it is possible that these bowls originate there. However the stones carry a gemstone certificate from China.
A storage box is included along with a cloth board.
The stones are Agate / Onyx. These are a popular choice in China, and a precious stone certificate of authenticity is included from Beijing. Semi-precious stones are considerably harder than clamshell, so it is difficult to cut them into shape with the same precision.
