This Kaya table board came to BadukClub from a rather odd place: an audio equipment shop in Hokkaido, Japan.
The go board is a lovely candy color typical of Kaya. The board weighs 6.5kg, so it is very dense. This is a 2-piece hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, to avoid the potential for warping that comes from making a thin board of a single piece. In this case the pieces are well-selected sections of rift-sawn or quarter-sawn wood.
There are some stray marks. This is a vintage item, so other small defects may exist.
