This deluxe go board came to BadukClub from an antique shop in Hokkaido, Japan.
The board is 17.7cm thick. It has an even yellow color typical of Shinkaya (Alaskan Spruce). and it is a rift-sawn board, a Shihou-masa cut. This cutting style is the highest rated of all, as it has the maximum dimensional stability and will not warp over time. In addition, this cut aligns the grain so that straight lines are showing on all sides.
This board has immense character with thin, even lines, and a warm overall color. There are very few stray marks, but there may be other small imperfections as this is a used item. Traces of white wax on the endgrain and on the legs is a good sign. The legs are Katsura.
The board comes with a cloth cover and a paulownia storage lid.
