These size L go bowls have great lines. They have a pleasing dark tone that is probably the result of a age and care of keyaki (zelkova wood). They may also be mulberry or cedar.
There are 190 white stones and 180 black. The white pieces are made from Japanese clams, and they measure about 4mm - because some chipping cannot be avoided at this thickness, ten extra pieces are included so that you can discard your least-favorites. The slow-growing clams of Japan produce incredibly tight lines, unlike Mexican giant clams, so they would be considered snow grade based on their lines but are not pure white. They have been cleaned and soaked per our Care Instructions. The black stones measure just slightly thicker than the white, though at size 16 they are all rather flat discs. This is great for players that don't like the wobble of bi-convex stones or are used to the flat appearance that stones have on a computer screen.
